SHIKOKU CHEMICALS CORPORATION is a chemical manufacturer headquartered in Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan.
For more than 60 years since 1964, the company has been producing the chlorine-based water treatment chemical “NEO-CHLOR®” at its Tokushima Plant. In 2013, Shikoku Chemicals also launched “NEO-CHLOR MARINE®”, a chemical specifically developed for ballast water treatment systems.

Furthermore, in December 2023, the company acquired the MICROFADE® business from Kuraray Co., Ltd. By adding ballast water treatment systems to its existing chemical product lineup, SHIKOKU CHEMICALS CORPORATION is now able to offer comprehensive ballast water treatment solutions.

MICROFADE® II, showcased at this exhibition, adopts a hybrid treatment method combining a high-performance filtration system with chemical injection. This approach ensures stable and reliable ballast water treatment performance in all sea areas, including freshwater and highly turbid waters, while also delivering excellent energy efficiency.

The treatment process consists of three simple steps:

1. Removal of the majority of organisms by filtration,
2. Injection of a low concentration of chlorine-based chemical, and
3. Neutralization during de-ballasting using a reducing agent.

Thanks to its short holding time, the system also contributes to shorter cargo handling operations.

MICROFADE® II has been installed on a wide range of vessel types and sizes, primarily Handymax to Panamax bulk carriers, as well as container vessels, general cargo ships, and refrigerated vessels.

We cordially invite you to visit our booth and discover the differences between MICROFADE® II and other ballast water treatment systems
