Enteric coatings prevent the release of active ingredients in the stomach. They are impenetrable in the acidic environment of stomach, but readily dissolves at specic pH values for each lm former. The lm coating’s dissolution is pH-dependant and hence the drug is released in a precise manner in specic sections of the digestive tract or at specic times after intake. Lumacri L 30 D-55 is an anionic copolymer based on methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate in 1:1 ratio. It is insoluble in water, with pH below 5.5 similar to stomach’s acidic environment. However, it is soluble in those regions of the intestinal tract, where the liquids are neutral to weak alkaline.
