Bank of Bioresources from Island and Coast is the first domestic hub in Korea for wild animal and marine organism clusters, established in 2021. With the increasing demand from academia and industries for domestic bioresources following the Nagoya Protocol, the need for systematic acquisition, efficient management, and utilization of bioresources has grown. Bank of Bioresources from Island and Coast of the Honam National Institute of Biological Resources integrates three banks: Embryoid Bank, Genetic resource Bank, and Natural product Bank. It aims to enhance management efficiency and carry out tasks related to the conservation and distribution of bioresources. Bank of Bioresources from Island and Coast efficiently conserves and manages unique bioresources discovered in the islands and coastal areas of South Korea. It provides stable utilization through distribution to domestic researchers contributing to the growth of the national bio-industry.
