Fire ants are very aggressive and prefer open, sunny land to build ant mounds. They could be serious pests at farms, turfs and horticultures.The climate limits the effectiveness of traditional fire ant bait: humid, rainy. The agricultural places also need sprinkling, therefore the old baits are usually damaged by water and finally useless.The carrier of these hydrophobic fire ant baits was developed by National Taiwan University and technologically transferred to Chung Hsi. The baits are very good for controlling red imported fire ants in the area under mostly humid climate. Their different active ingredients could fit varied control strategies.
