Sacrificial Anode are highly active metals that are used to prevent a less active material surface from corroding. The sacrificial anode will be consumed in place of the metal it is protecting, which is why it is referred to as a "sacrificial" anode. 3 main types of Sacrificial Anode namely Aluminum Anode, Zinc Anode and Magnesium Anode. To select the type, it depends on the medium/electrolyte in which the structure is present for e.g. sea water, freshwater, soil and etc. Its used to protect the hulls of ships, water heaters, pipelines, distribution systems, above and underground tanks, refineries and etc.
