Microsystems, Inc. has used electric-field–based self-cleaning glass to effectively remove contaminants caused by rain and dust. However, in extreme winter conditions—such as heavy snow, icing, and frost that fully cover the lens surface—the system has struggled to maintain clear visibility. For early detection of disaster and safety risks, a multifunctional cleaning technology capable of reliably removing not only water but also snow and ice is essential.
To meet this requirement, MicroSystem has introduced a thermal Joule-heating cleaning technology that directly heats the glass surface through embedded electrodes. This enables rapid melting of snow and ice accumulated on the lens, while also clearing residual moisture and particles. The resulting all-weather cleaning module supports stable monitoring across diverse environments, including cold mountainous regions, coastal areas, and urban bridge zones, all without the need for external mechanical wipers.
